Visiting Professors

We invite a variety of national and international leaders from the field of plastic surgery to provide lectureship in their specialties. Our visiting professors help to provide world-class training to our students. Over the years this program has grown into a robust and essential aspect of education at Washington University School of Medicine.

Visiting professors often are sponsored by one of the following: Plastic Surgery Foundation, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, James Barrett Brown Research Foundation, or as a William A. Peck, MD, Alumni Visiting Professor.

    James Barrett Brown Visiting Professors

Each year, for James Barrett Brown Resident Research Day, we feature a prominent speaker in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

James Barrett Brown, MD, (1899-1971) was Chief of Plastic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine from 1955 until 1968, and holds an ongoing legacy of support for plastic surgery research at the School. The Barrett Brown family has been instrumental in advancing academic plastic surgery through the sponsorship of clinical visiting professors.
